On Tuesday at the Intermediate, Mrs. Murdock will be talking with students about Bullying, being United in including others, and in showing kindness in all we do. On Wednesday students will be asked to wear orange to show their support and commitment on Unity Day. Bullying can be stopped in its tracks if we work to show kindness, acceptance, and inclusion of others. We can’t wait to stand with our students to show them we are all in this together!

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students, We have received confirmation of a positive Covid-19 case for a Junior High Staff member. Due to the recent positive cases at the high school and now a secondary staff member we will be unable to conduct in-person school at the secondary campus for at least one week. The secondary campus grades 7-12 will be closed to in-person instruction October 20-23. Individuals requiring self-quarantine will receive or have already received a direct phone call from a district administrator. The recent cases have caused numerous staff members grades 7-12 to self-quarantine. The closure is only for the junior high and high school at this time. Distance learning will begin Tuesday for all secondary students. Chromebooks may be checked out on Tuesday, October 20th from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. If unable to come at this time, please contact the school to make alternate arrangements. Students who do not have internet access need to contact the appropriate school office to make arrangements for packet pick-up. As always our number one concern is the health and safety of our students and staff. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will be working with local and state health officials to assist us in making informed decisions.

Dear Parents/Guardians, we were recently notified that three students at McLoud High School have tested positive for COVID-19. The district has worked in cooperation with local health officials to determine quarantine requirements. Personal contacts were made by Mr. Jennngs and Mr. Olds to those individuals required to self-quarantine. The Pottawatomie Health Department will follow up in the next few days with those individuals. Our staff continues to make great efforts to clean and sanitize all areas throughout the district. This includes regular fogging of buildings and facilities with an antimicrobial as well as routine disinfecting of commonly used areas. McLoud Public Schools wants to do our part to keep open lines of communication with the parents and community as we move through this together. We will do our best to inform you of new cases as they are confirmed. We greatly appreciate your continued support. Please keep your child at home if they are experiencing COVID related symptoms such as but not limited to: Loss of smell or taste, Sore throat, Persistent cough,Running a fever, or Shortness of breath. We are monitoring COVID cases throughout the district/community on a daily basis and will notify everyone immediately in the event we move to district-wide Distance Learning. If you have any questions, please contact me or any of the principals at your convenience: Superintendent Steve Stanley sstanley@mcloudschools.us Exec. Director of Administrators, Rhonda Hockenbury rhockenbury@mcloudschools.us Sincerely, Steve Stanley

ECC Families: An ECC learning expectation is for our early learners to have learning experiences outside of our school building with their teacher and classmates. They attend educational field trips, community events, assemblies, and class celebrations during their time as an ECC student. Given our current health concern, we are reimagining how to best bring these experiences and learning opportunities to our students. We are excited to be able to partner with the McLoud Chamber of Commerce to host a private ECC event in the park for our Traditional ECC Students. We hope our community partners and parents will appreciate and value this learning experience opportunity being offered to their children, while still adhering to current health guidelines. We are hopeful for a time in which we can have our parents and community partners in our school building, as done in the past. However, current circumstances are providing opportunities for us to think outside of the box. We are grateful that we are able to celebrate fall and have some similar experiences provided on a much smaller scale for our students in the ECC. Your child will need written permission via the permission slip sent home in backpacks to participate. The information provided is for our community partners to express their intentions for participation. We do expect you will have some concerns, as this is something new and different. We only ask you contact us directly at the ECC 405-964-3382 or via email sthomason@mcloudschools.us so that we may address your specific concerns. Kind Regards, Sally Thomason, ECC Principal David Hagans, Assistant Principal

Good morning high school parents and students! I would like to take the time this morning to make sure students and parents are aware of the late work policy at the high school. I have asked our teachers in the first nine weeks to be very lenient regarding our policy on late work and they have been very accommodating. Our teachers have communicated to students every day for the last couple of weeks, that when the nine weeks ended on Thursday, October 8th, there would be no more late work accepted from the first nine weeks. Beginning Monday, October 12th, we will return to our normal late work policy. The policy states that a student has 4 days to complete the work for 100% credit. After 4 days, a ZERO goes in the grade book. Traditional students are given 20 minutes per day during PRIDE to not only check their grades, but to also work on the missing assignments they have. Even though we are in a difficult time, students must have a timeline to turn work in. It is very difficult for our teachers to continuously go back several weeks to grade assignments and change grades. Please remember that schools are still being held accountable for attendance. Students that exceed 7 days absent may not receive credit for a class. Please contact the high school office if you have any questions or concerns.

We are excited to work in collaboration with the Mcloud Kiwanis Club to sell Poinsettias again this year. This fundraiser helps the Kiwanis be able to purchase coats and shoes for students in need. We are greatly blessed by our continued partnership, and look forward to assisting again this year. Please email aanderson@mcloudschools.us if you would like to order.
